I have always had that "volunteering spirit". I have been interested in the world, other continents, different cultures and people. I have been fascinated by world diversity. My biggest desire was to travel the world, discover other cultures and help where people need it. I first encourtered with projects helping people in need probably in first or second grade in elementary school. Just knowing that somewhere in the world children suffer and they can´t go to school made me feel I had to act and do something to change this situation.

While I was growing up, I found out that topics such as volunteering, peace, respect to other people and similar topics were not very popular among my peers. Discussing how we could solve some big worldwide crisis or fundraise for a good cause, that wasn´t anything that others would be interested in. When fundraising and donating to various causes simply wasn´t "enough" for me, I started searching how to get into action and learn or experience more.

My dreams and wishes came true in 2015, when after long years of waiting and dreaming I finally head to my first volunteer experience abroad. My first volunteering destination was Kenya. There were so many reasons why this country just had to be the first one, but I won´t go into details now. After coming back home, I was so motivated and pumped by all awesome moments I had experienced there that I simply decided to share it with others and inspire them to do something for change as well.

Let me introduce myself - my name is Helena, although most of my friends know me as Helča. This was just a short introduction which was suppossed to put you a bit in frame about my life and why I decided to create this blog/project. It is only one of the ways how I would like to make this world a bit better place and I hope we can achieve it. Human rights, psychology, equality, education are just a few topics I´m interested in and I´m passionate about. My aim is to spread these issues among other youths, their families and friends.

I don´t need to be a Nobel Prize winner to know that I did something good for the world, even simple and honest "Thank you" is enough for me.

With love,
Helča
